Online Video Counselling Study

VVCS has partnered with Swinburne University of Technology to examine whether online video counselling is as effective for VVCS clients and clinicians as face-to-face counselling.

Online video counselling is an emerging means of delivering therapy and treatments in the mental health community. Currently, there is limited evidence about whether it is as effective as face-to-face counselling for some mental health conditions relevant to veterans and their family members. The on-line component of this project is delivered by a highly secure and confidential platform.

If proven effective, online video counselling will increase the accessibility VVCS services, particularly for clients in remote locations or those who have significant difficulties in attending an office for face-to-face sessions.

The study is being conducted widely across Australia and is open to people between 18 and 65 years of age who are seeking individual counselling and have not been diagnosed with PTSD by a psychiatrist.
